Healthy Community Challenge

The American Heart Association (Greater Bay Area Division) would like to congratulate the following organizations that have joined the Healthy Community Challenge. Running from August 1, 2008 - March 31, 2009, The Healthy Community Challenge is a competition between faith-based and community organizations to encourage their members to live healthier lives through regular physical activity, good nutrition, and health education. This health challenge is coordinated through collaboration between the American Heart Association and community based partnering health organizations throughout the Bay Area, San Francisco and the South Bay. This challenge will assist churches and community organizations in implementing a wellness program designed to educate participants about their disproportionate risk for heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and other chronic diseases. 

The winner of the challenge will be crowned the "Champion of Health" and win the grand prize of $2000. Second prize will be $1500 and third $500.

This program is supported locally by Kaiser Permanente.
